Scotts lifts '04 outlook by 3%-6%

The lawn and garden product maker expects net income to rise 13%-16% from '03, when it earned $3.57 a share. It had forecast a 10% rise, slightly below views of $4.07, or a 14% rise. It also nudged its sales forecast from 6%-7% growth to 7%-8%. Scotts did caution that its international business would perform below expectations. Shares rose 6% to 63.88.
