Feb. 6--The Golden LEAF Foundation will chip in $1 million to help lure a $70 million pharmaceutical packaging and distribution hub to Wilson.

But the grant approved Thursday was $2 million less than requested and leaves Wilson County officials about a million shy of the $7.7 million incentive package needed.

North Carolina is one of three states being considered by Miami drug maker Ivax for a packaging and distribution hub that would create about 300 jobs.

Texas and Florida are also in the running, and the size of the incentive package is likely to determine a winner. Ivax is expected to make a decision in…
