Jan. 1--If you want to know what Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is thinking and what bold new policies may be coming, you have two ways to find out: listen to his radio talk shows every Saturday or follow what books he's reading or recommends.
It's still not too late to catch up since Mr Thaksin is likely to be governing the country for at least six more years.
Those who want to read the same books as the PM does should make sure they're fast enough to finish at least two or three books a week.
If you don't listen to the radio, just go to a bookstore and ask the staff for the PM's recommendations, which now amount to more than 10 lists.
"Most of the PM's recommended books become best-sellers," said Varit Charunyanonda, senior marketing manager of Asia Books.
Since the premier first suggested that his cabinet read, As the Future Catches You early last year, all books featuring new ideas in important fields like IT and science have been the ones most sought after by readers.
