Feb. 6--The government is again considering reducing or eliminating import duties on brand-name fashion goods in a bid to promote Thailand as a regional shopping paradise.
The government aims to increase the value of the fashion industry by 100 billion baht this year to 400 billion baht, spurred in part by the Bangkok Fashion City project. The project's inaugural event, from Feb 12-15, is expected to generate sales of about one billion baht.
