Responding to our May 17 cover story, readers blamed Donald Rumsfeld for the Abu Ghraib abuses. "A clueless president and an irresponsible Defense secretary did not respect the law and gave orders that led to torture," wrote one. "America lost whatever good will it still had," lamented another.
