First-Time Users to Drive Phone Growth in Thailand.

Jan. 3--Thailand's cellular market is expected to grow this year but at slower pace than last year, according to mobile phone operators.
Cellular companies expect demand for mobile phones to rise 15 percent, driven mainly by first-time users from the fast-growing provincial market and the country's strong economic growth.
Thailand's cellular market grew 35 percent last year -- to 23 million subscribers or 34 percent of the population. Operators believe there is still plenty of room for the market to expand, estimating that 45 percent of the population will have mobile phones by 2008.
