Jan. 5--PTT Exploration & Production Plc (PTTEP) of Thailand is pondering opportunities to join with international energy concerns in a bid for a slice of Iraq's post-Saddam Hussein hydrocarbons businesses.
"We are keeping a keen eye on opportunities which may emerge in Iraq," said PTTEP president Maroot Mrigadat, noting the war-torn country is one of a number of Middle Eastern countries in which PTTEP is seeking to establish a presence to build up its global petroleum portfolio.
But given the current situation, Mr Maroot said that the Thai state-controlled oil and gas exploration group PTTEP cannot throw caution to the wind and jump into Iraq.
