Jan. 7--Maxxis International, a leading Taiwanese tyre maker, is expanding its capacity in Thailand and diversifying its products, with plans to develop its new Thai facility into a reseach and development centre for Asia-Pacific.

Maxxis, whose eight-billion-baht investment was approved by the Board of Investment early this year, recently bought an additional 148 rai of land in the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate in Rayong from Hemaraj Land and Development Plc.
