Jan. 7--Several calendar producers saw a sharp fall in business last year, both in terms of orders and customers, at a time when companies increased spending on corporate gifts for Christmas and New Year.

The falling popularity of calendars and changing spending habits by corporations were cited as reasons for the slowdown.

Weerawat Yiampolpat, the operator of a small printing house in Bangkok's Huai Kwang district, said orders for calendars in the run-up to the new year dropped by about 50 percent, but orders for greeting cards increased by about 20 percent.
