Jan. 6--Thailand's power sector was given a jolt yesterday after the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand announced a complicated share swap aimed at consolidating its hold on subsidiary Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding.
Egat executives said the transaction was aimed at expanding the state electricity monopoly's asset base ahead of its planned initial public offering and listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, currently scheduled for March.
The deal involves an agreement between Egat and Banpu Plc to restructure their shareholdings in Ratchaburi and Electricity Generating Plc (Egco).
