Jan. 8--Tourism has been hit hardest in the three southernmost provinces of Thailand following a series of bombings and armed attacks in the Muslim-dominated region which flared up last week.
Tourism-related business in Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala have been forced to cope with a deluge of cancellations and postponements from tourists and travel agents, said Anusart Suwanmongkol, president of the Business Tourism Association of Pattani.
"It's very unfortunate for the image of tourism in the area after the pictures of the two bomb disposal experts who were killed were splashed all over the international media. ...
