Jan. 8--Thai stocks plunged 2.43 percent yesterday, falling for the second day in a row as investors took profits amid concerns about a possible interest rate hike in the near future.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand index closed at 750.97 points, down 18.71 points, in heavy trade worth 48.14 billion baht. Leading the fall was the energy sector, down 4.72 percent; building materials, off 3.59 percent; and property, down 3.38 percent. The SET50 index fell 3.5 percent to 48.75 points.
