Jan. 8--Thailand's rice exports reached a record high of 7.58 million tonnes last year, fetching the country US$1.85 billion, according to the Foreign Trade Department.
Exports surpassed a previous projection of 7.3 million tonnes, worth $1.7 billion.
Rachane Potjanasuntorn , the department's director-general, attributed the higher shipments to closer co-operation among rice-exporting countries over trade information sharing and refraining from engaging in a price war.
