Jan. 8--Ticket sales for Thai films were significantly higher in 2003 compared with the year before, capturing close to one-third of total ticket sales revenue estimated at 3.6 billion baht.

Thai movies have made their presence felt in local theatres, which have become more open to showing local productions alongside Hollywood releases, while audiences are giving local filmmakers a chance.

The total 2003 ticket sales achieved by Thai films was about one billion baht, up from 650 million baht the year before.
