Jan. 9--Tiger, the only Thai player in the Japanese-dominated motorcycle market, has offered its customers a zero-interest campaign, an unprecedented strategy in the history of hire-purchase financing for motorcycles.
"Such a campaign is common for many products, ranging from cheap electrical appliances to exorbitant luxury saloons. So why not motorcycles?" said Piti Manomaipibul, managing director of Tigar Motorsales Co, the distributor of Tiger motorbikes.
The interest rates for motorcycles charged by auto hire-purchase companies are usually quite high, currently at 2 percent to 2.5 percent per month.
