Feb. 5--TOT Corporation yesterday joined forces with Internet Thailand in providing Electronic Data Capture (EDC) pool service, which enables faster, more secure electronic payments by credit cardholders, helping retailers save money and improve margins.

TOT Corp. deputy-president Aran Permpiboon said the launch of the EDC pool was in response to the rising number of credit card users, which hit four million last year, up from 3.42 million in 2002.

He said that while the number of retailers using EDC modules offering e-payment service was still low due to the high cost of installation, the introduction of the EDC ...
