Budget for Thai Entrepreneurs Halved to 1.8 Billion Baht This Year.

Feb. 5--The Department of Industrial Promotion has decided to slash by half the budget used to encourage new entrepreneurs this year to 1.8 billion baht after acquiring other forms of support from the private sector.

Earlier, the department planned to seek 3.8 billion baht from the state budget to finance its goal of creating 50,000 new entrepreneurs within 18 months as outlined by government policy.

But Industry Minister Pinit Charusombat argued that the budget was too high and directed state officials to cut the funds.
