Feb. 5--The market for conventional detergent is shrinking as concentrated versions grow, with more and more people using washing machines instead of cleaning their clothes manually.
Consumption of hand-wash detergent last year contracted by 2.4 percent while the market for concentrated detergent surged 11.8 percent, according to a research conducted by ACNielsen Retail Audit Thailand.
The increasing number of coin-operated washing machines and the proliferation of laundry shops are also contributing to the demand.
