Federation of Thai Industries Proposes Establishing 'Aerotropolis'.

Feb. 5--An airport-town concept called "aerotropolis" should be developed within a 30-kilometre radius around the new Suvarnabhumi airport to facilitate the development of jewellery, service, information technology, and other light industries there, the Federation of Thai Industries said yesterday.
Rungsri Luangvarinkul, FTI director and head of the City Planning and Industrial Estate Committee, said the operation of the new international airport scheduled to open in September next year would lead to business activities in the surrounding area, including a regional logistic hub as part of plan being promoted by the government
