Various artists, "Absolute Worship" _ 3 stars (Fervent)

Let me start off by saying I have a nit to pick with this album. When a release is labeled as a "worship" album, I assume that the songs can be played in a Sunday morning service and that people can follow the melody enough to sing along.

Most of these songs don't fit those criteria. Most are pop/rock songs, and others are ballads. So as a worship album, I think this album fails.

But as a Christian pop/rock album with explicitly Christian lyrics, this two-CD compilation is solid.

It features 25 songs by 25 artists. Included in the mix are songs performed by The Katinas, Watermark, Phil Joel (of the Newsboys) and Jeremy Camp.
