JULY 4: The city of Charleston presents America the Beautiful: Charleston's Independence Day Celebration featuring choirs, bands, dancers and more. The evening will end with a musically accompanied fireworks display. Kids activities begin at 6 p.m. and the main event begins at 8:15 p.m. Brittlebank Park. Free. Call 670-5634 for more information.
JULY 4: The South Carolina Aquarium celebrates Independence Day on its riverside terrace! Stephen Duvall Catering and Events will serve refreshments to enjoy while viewing a fireworks show over the Cooper River. Rotie Salley will provide live entertainment. Beach chairs welcome. No coolers please. Limited seating is available. 7:30 p.m. Adults: $15 for members, $20 for non-members; children (11 and under): $10 for members, $15 for non-members. JULY 17: The Gibbes Museum of Art as a Sensational Saturday! program for children ages 4-12 with accompanying adults presents a watercolor batik program by art instructor Jennifer Benner focusing on the "Myths and Metaphors: The Art of Leo Twiggs" exhibit. 135 Meeting St. 10 a.m.-noon. $7 for member adult with child and $4 per additional child. $11 and $6 for non-members.
JULY 23: The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission presents a Moonlight Mixer: "Shaggin' on the Pier." Enjoy dancing under the stars while DJ Rob Duren spins oldies and beach music. Food and beverages will available on-site for purchase. Folly Beach Fishing Pier. 7-11 p.m. $8 for Charleston county residents, $10 for non-county residents, and $10 at the gate, if available. JULY 31: The Charleston Museum presents an American Girl Doll Party for Frisbee-fanatic Kailey featuring crafts and activities related to her world. 360 Meeting St. 10 a.m.-noon. $8 for members and $10 for non-members.
