Feb. 13--The House of Delegates approved a measure, 63-31, yesterday that would create a Center for Rural Virginia.
The bill's sponsor, Del. R. Steven Landes, R-Augusta, said he realized a $500,000 state budget amendment for the center would not win approval this year, but said that by authorizing the creation of the nonprofit center, the legislature could allow it to pursue private and federal funding.
