Feb. 3--A Chattanooga-based program aimed at keeping TVA, NASA and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory supplied with skilled employees has received $500,000 in federal funds.
"Workers of the Cold War era are retiring. We've got to make sure we've got workers," said U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tennessee.
The money, part of a recent spending bill approved by Congress and signed by the president, will fund the Workforce Aging Management Program, or so-called WAMP initiative.
Greg Sedrick of the New Economy Institute, which manages the program, said it is designed to encourage the next generation of scientists and technicians. …
