Feb. 3--While the bird flu has dominated headlines over the past two weeks, unrest in the country's southern provinces could ultimately have a greater detrimental impact on the Thai economy, according to analysts at SCB Securities.
"The reasons for the market's fall since the beginning of January were the market corrections after the high rally in December, and foreign investors already selling off to take profits. Another major factor was the unrest in the deep South that is still prevailing," said Susheel Narula, the company's research head.
