Feb. 3--JANUARY INFLATION RATE SLIPS TO 1.2 PERCENT: Thailand's headline inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 1.2 percent year-on-year in January, against 1.8 percent in December and 2.2 percent in January 2003, the Commerce Ministry said yesterday.
The food and beverage index last month rose 0.6 percent, on higher prices for fragrant rice, pork, vegetables and poultry to celebrate the Chinese New Year, according to the ministry's permanent secretary, Karun Kittisataporn.
