Incentives Help Davidson County, N.C., Bid for Flooring-Tile Firm's Expansion.

Feb. 2--LEXINGTON, N.C. -- An incentives package that local officials are calling unprecedented has put Davidson County among the finalists for the major expansion of a Belgian flooring-tile maker.

The Davidson County Board of Commissioners has offered the company, Unilin Decor, $2.2 million in land development and up to $424,000 in grants if the company expands within the county lines.

"This is probably the biggest one I've been a part of," said Fred Sink, the chairman of the board of commissioners for the last six years and a longtime county official.
