ORLANDO _ It's not typical for a high-caliber program such as Florida to pluck its assistants from the high school ranks. Then again, Coach Ron Zook said Dan Disch isn't a typical high school coach.

Zook made the exception Wednesday, announcing he has hired Disch, 45, as the Gators' secondary coach.

Disch, who was the coach at Ed White High in Jacksonville for the past 16 years, filled the final hole on Zook's staff. He replaces former secondary/special teams coach Mike Woodford, who was let go last month.
