AUSTIN, Texas _ Kansas' road woes have now reached historical proportions.
In falling to Texas, 82-67, on Monday night, the Jayhawks lost their fourth straight conference road game for the first time in 17 years. Their margin of defeat in the last three of those was the worst since 1906.
"No team plays better on the road than at home," KU junior Keith Langford said, "but we seem to be having more trouble than most. But the last time I checked it's still February and we still have games to play.
"We can't hang our heads. We can't give in, and we won't."
In a game that was largely a battle for second place in the Big 12, No. 20 KU was a no-show as the 10th-ranked Longhorns dominated in almost every way. But then it has been that way for a while for the Jayhawks on the road.
"I expected it to be tough on the road in this league," KU coach Bill Self said. "Whenever Kansas comes to town, it adds a little spice to it. Teams are more geeked up."
