Mar. 1--The Energy Ministry is considering setting up a price stabilisation fund for electricity to help reassure investors that the planned privatisation of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) would not lead to higher electricity prices.
The Egat union has been leading a vigorous campaign against the privatisation and listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Among the arguments used by employees is that as a for-profit public company, Egat would be compelled to set prices to maximise returns.
