Mar. 1--ALL UNITS OF THAI FIRM MINOR GROUP RECORD STRONG GAINS: The Minor Group has reported positive 2003 performance results for all of its subsidiaries.
Record sales from Royal Garden Resorts Plc (RGR), the group's hotel division and its new subsidiary, Minor Food Group, translated into higher revenues and profits for RGR on both a quarterly and annual basis.
RGR's revenue grew 70 percent year-on-year to 4.67 billion and net profits rose 16 percent to 400 million baht. The firm will pay a dividend of 0.50 baht per share.
RGR's strong performance was based on the dramatic recovery in the fourth quarter from the effects on tourism of Sars and the Iraq war.
Minor Food said its net profits almost doubled over 2002 to 159 million baht, with good contributions from all of its five food brands: The Pizza Company, Swensen's, Sizzler, Dairy Queen and Burger King.
Minor Corp, a distributor of lifestyle consumer brands including Esprit, Red Earth and Bossini, reported a 29 percent increase in net profit to 77.5 million baht while the revenue rose 63 percent to 1,951 million baht.
The growth was mainly driven by Minor subsidiary Navasri Manufacturing Thai (NMT), which produces fabric softener and other household products.
