Mar. 2--In a closely watched decision with political as well as economic dimensions, the agency that oversees Florida's public-employee pension money said Monday that it is opposed to Michael Eisner's continuing as chairman of the Walt Disney Co. -- the biggest employer in the state's biggest industry.
The State Board of Administration waited until near the deadline for voting in Wednesday's annual meeting to withhold from Eisner the support of its approximately 7.3 million Disney shares.
The vote on Eisner's re-election to Disney's board of directors is increasingly seen as a referendum on whether Eisner's two-decade reign at the top of the company should continue.
