Mar. 4--The Board of Investment yesterday approved investment privileges for a 11.7-billion-baht project by Mitsubishi Corp to make Thailand its export base for a line of new pick-up trucks with an annual capacity of 116,000 units.
The Japanese automaker's factory, located in the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, will be retooled to build one-tonne pick-up trucks under the project called 3EOO. The new model will replace the Strada, which will be phased out next year.
By adjusting the production line, Mitsubishi Corp would be able to double its pick-up manufacturing volume from 83,500 units a year currently. Production ...
