Mar. 5--Seeing strong growth potential in Thailand's hospitality industry, the US hotel chain Marriott International is looking at adding new properties in Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai to its Thai portfolio.
The company has set out to aggressively expand in Asia-Pacific and Australia, with plans to bring 19 new hotels into its fold by 2006, said Edwin Fuller, president and managing director of International Lodging Marriott International Inc.
Such growth will increase Marriott's portfolio in the region to cover over 100 hotels under eight brands.
