WALNUT CREEK, Calif. _ Cornerback Ahmed Plummer's intense study habits have become well known since the 49ers made him a first-round draft pick in 2000.

So what in the world was Plummer thinking Friday when he re-signed with a 49ers team that had gutted its offensive unit in the past week?

"I had a conversation with them before we came to this agreement about the changes and what they were looking for," Plummer said in a conference call with Bay Area media. "Once I talked to them, I understood their plan and where they were coming from. I'm committed to their plan. It's our job to make it successful now."
