Mar. 19--Business majors at Alabama State University got some firsthand advice Thursday on how to build a bright financial future and land a job in the financial services industry from leaders in the field during a late-morning symposium on campus.

Tyris Sturgis, an ASU alumnus and founder of The Art of Words, a nonprofit group that teaches communication skills to students, helped kick off the event. He told students minorities are "greatly underrepresented" in the financial services industry -- banking, insurance, stock brokerage and the like -- and encouraged them to make use of the experts on hand and other resources in seeking out …
