Mar. 31--ORLANDO, Fla. -- Love may flourish when the stars align and the moon shines, but cervical cancer might prefer sunlight, a provocative new theory suggests.
Dutch women were more than twice as likely to test positive for the sexually transmitted virus that causes the disease in August than during winter months, a study found.
Researchers theorize that sunlight suppresses women's immune systems, making them more susceptible to the human papilloma virus, or HPV.
However, a second study suggested sunlight could be beneficial against a different cancer.
