2004 JUL 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- According to a University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) study, women seem to tolerate traumatic injury better than men.
Irshad Chaudry, PhD, of UAB's Center for Surgical Research, has studied the role of estrogen in how the body responds to traumatic stress.
A retrospective study on 7,000 patients at UAB showed that women have a three-to-one advantage in survival of blunt traumas, such as car accidents, compared to men.
