Apr. 6--After spending US$190 million (7.43 billion baht) to take control of its joint ventures with Siam Motors, Japan's Nissan Motor Co said yesterday it was ready to make Thailand its global export base on grounds that the government would accord it equal treatment with other auto manufacturers.
Nissan's potential future investments in Thailand could lead to a further dilution of the holdings of the Thai partner, which decreased from 75 percent to 25 percent under an agreement signed yesterday, according to Nissan president and chief executive Carlos Ghosn.
