Apr. 7--Parents who want Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to honor its commitments to renovate center-city schools spoke up at South Mecklenburg High School on Tuesday.
Speakers said they know the school district desperately needs classrooms in rapidly growing northern and southern suburban areas -- a need that is driving CMS to review its construction plans.
"But it's also important to take care of and upgrade the schools in the inner city," Sally Higgins, president of the Cotswold Elementary PTA, told officials at Tuesday's meeting.
She joined speakers from half a dozen schools in urging officials not to delay promised renovations and expansions.
