Regarding your Drivers Log on the 2004 Infiniti M45 (June 7): Floyd says its looks are polarizing? It's a new Chevy Impala that has been hit by an ugly stick! And tell him that with tax, license and anything done to make the car bearable to look at, you have a $50,000-plus car. That amount will buy you an off-lease M5, XJR or mid-'90s Bentley. And they're actually selling these things? I guess that's why McDonald's is the top selling hamburger in this country.

Thank you for finally touching on a piece of the Lotus Elise story (AW, June 7) that we haven't heard enough about: American Lotus enthusiasts know it was former CEO Arnie Johnson's single-minded vision and relentless pursuit of an American-market Elise that finally brought the car to us. Thank you, Mr. Johnson!
