Byline: Elaine D'Aurizio
Apr. 29--"Come away with me Lucille in my merry Oldsmobile
Down the road of life we'll fly automo-bubbling you and I
To the church we'll swiftly steal, then our wedding bells will peal,
You can go as far you like with me, in my merry Oldsmobile."
From the song "In My Merry Oldsmobile," 1905
Today, the last car from America's oldest car company -- and the country's first mass-produced automobile -- will roll off the assembly line in Lansing, Mich. So the couple in that merry ditty will have to find another buggy in which to travel down the road of life.
