May 4--Shin Corporation is entering the cinema business through a planned joint venture with EGV Entertainment to launch what the companies call an "E-theatre", which enables audiences in the provinces to view new movies at the same time as Bangkok viewers through the use of broadband technology.

Under the scheme, Shin plans to modify its 400 Telewiz telecom service outlets in the provinces to also serve as mini-theatres where audiences can view the latest films through high-speed Internet access provided by Shin Satellite.

Shin Corporation will be in charge of the broadband infrastructure and construction, while the EGV cinema chain will provide ...
