May 4--The country's first agricultural commodity futures market is scheduled to open for trading on May 28 after years of postponements, according to Suvarn Valaisathien, the chairman of the Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (Afet).
Rice and rubber, which have huge trade value, are expected to be the first two commodities traded in the market while tapioca and shrimp will be next in the line.
To introduce investors and traders to the market, officials will hold the Futures Fair In Bangkok on May 10 at the Plaza Athenee Bangkok.
