Forward-looking stocks shoot up as investors pull money from CDs

Warren Buffet may be respected for his investment acumen but the $100 million that his Berkshire Hathaway company made by sitting on Geico Corp. stock this year is shocking in and of itself.

This, on an insurance stock, mind you. Stocks of D.C.-area companies in struggling industries like retail, real estate and insurance have scraped close to their 52-week highs -- and set new ones -- in a bull market that has been pulled along mostly by software and biotech.
