May 5--Thai stocks ended 0.62 percent lower yesterday as investors continued to worry about the unresolved violence in the South and the prospect of rising interest rates in the near future.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand index closed at 644.10 points, down 4.05, in trade worth 11.63 billion baht. Leading losses were the transportation sector, which fell 1.75 percent; building and furnishing, off 2.21 percent; and banking, down 0.53 percent.
