May 7--The board of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has trimmed its requested additional budget for tourism promotion activities this year by 25 percent to 1.2 billion baht.
Sonthaya Khunpluem, the Tourism and Sports minister and chairman of the TAT board, said the budget request had been reduced by 400 million baht as the agency needed to focus only on programmes that would have an immediate impact on the country's tourism industry.
The two projects that have been dropped by the board are the 340-million-baht Heart of Asia campaign, which was supposed to have been spent on international media ...
