May 7--State assistance is on the way for Thai electronics manufacturers, who have long been handicapped by their weakness in hi-fi technology.
The government plans to help local producers improve their design and technical knowledge, as well as assist hi-fi exporters in building national brands capable of holding their own in the international market.
"Thai manufacturers can easily catch up with the advanced technology used in hi-fi system production, but their weakness is design," said Science and Technology Minister Korn Dabbaransi.
