Apr. 22--A sample of what a Gmail screen would look like can be found at gmail.google.com/gmail/help/screen2.html
Imagine going through your mail one day and finding an envelope from your friend. You open it to find a short letter about her recent trip to Paris.
The envelope also contains a few other relevant items: a flier from Air France touting its air fares to Paris. A brochure for the Hotel Ambassadeur. A coupon for French lessons.
But your friend didn't put those ads there. The post office did, after opening the envelope and reading her letter.
Unthinkable? Of course it is -- at least with paper mail.
With e-mail, however, it has begun.
