Florida's Governor Approves Sales Tax, Gas Tax Holidays in August.

May 21--TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida taxpayers will save $95 million this summer through gas and sales tax holidays signed into law Thursday by Gov. Jeb Bush.

The measure reduces the state gas tax by 8 cents per gallon during August and eliminates sales taxes for nine days this summer on items of clothing under $50 and school supplies and books under $10, again per item. It also authorizes advertisements touting the tax relief package.

Appearing on radio and television, the ads are expected to praise the governor and the Legislature for the tax reductions, although the details still are being decided, said Department of …
