General Motors Puts Brakes on Production at Moraine, Ohio, Plant.

May 21--MORAINE, Ohio -- The General Motors Corp. Moraine Assembly plant will temporarily shut down June 14 through June 21, putting nearly 4,000 workers on temporary layoff status for a week, according to company spokespeople.

Jessica Peck, the plant's business communications integrator, said the temporary closing will better align the plant's production with the market's demand.

GM spokesman Dan Flores said this is GM's way of putting the brakes on its steady supply of the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Buick Rainier mid-size sport utility vehicles, all of which are made at the Moraine plant. GM, for example, makes …
